PM Modi’s address found special mention to hackathons organised by various departments and universities, as he encouraged companies to take up more such competitions at their own level to involve the younger population. This will allow them to broaden their innovations and come up with better ideas, he asserted.
“70-80 percent of solutions given by startups and entrepreneurs during hackathons have been adopted by the government. We should have more hackathons to resolve issues for every sector, including MSMEs,” he noted.
Asserting the power of young startup founders and innovators developing new solutions in India for the world, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the youth is transforming from job seekers to job creators. “Youth have played a major role in moving India from eleventh to fifth spot spot in the world in terms of economy,” the PM said atthe Startup Mahakumbh event held at the Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. PM Modi noted that the entrepreneurial culture is no more restricted to metros anymore, with government making provisions via incubators to encourage self employment beyond Tier 2 and 3 regions.
“Its become a societal norm. Startup culture has reached over 600 districts now,” he added. “The government started to work on startups at the right time. There was a strategic vision behind this,” he said.
Speaking at the last day of Startup Mahakumbh in Bharat Mandapam,Modi said, “Now, we are in an era which is associated with new technologies like AI.
We will have an upper hand in Ai. The world knows this. Our job is to not to let the opportunity to go.
“During election campaigns, when there is language restrictions,I am spreading my word through Tamil, Telugu (with the help of AI). When you youngsters bring such innovations, I am also being helped.”
Earlier in March, the Union Cabinet approved an over Rs 12,000-crore plan to drive AI computing in the country. Under the plan, the government will also establish a non personal data platform, which can be leveraged by startups and Indian entrepreneurs
