External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on March 20 said there is a greater confidence on the electoral aspect with regard to the South of India.
"Our sense of ourselves as a nation is also changing. I would say people are taking more interest in foreign policy because there ks a stronger sense of nation and the South of India is a part of it, he said while speaking at the News18 Rising Bharat Summit. "Look at the response PM is getting in southern states. My sense is political opinions in those states are changing as they have seen the benefits of good governance by BJP government -- free food schemes jal jeevan mission, etc."
However, he did not comment on whether he will contest in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. "The effort lok sabha MPs put in is staggering - there is always a balance ... it may be Lok Sabha may be something else," he said.
