Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 19 turned emotional during his speech in Tamil Nadu while recalling late BJP leader V Ramesh, who was hacked to death 10 years ago.

Speaking at a rally in Salem, PM Modi recalled the contributions made by V Ramesh, who was also known as "Auditor Ramesh".

"I can't forget Auditor Ramesh. Aaj Salem ka mera vo Ramesh nahi hai. (Unfortunately today Ramesh is not among us) ... Ramesh worked hard for the party, day and night and he was a good orator. But he was killed. Today I pay my tributes to him," Modi said, while taking a pause during his speech.

V Ramesh, who was an auditor by profession, was a BJP's Tamil Nadu general secretary. The 54-year-old leader was killed in his house by an unknown gang in July 2013.

During his speech, PM Modi also paid rich tributes to the late BJP leader KN Lakshmanan, recalling his contributions for the party's growth in Tamil Nadu.

PM Modi also expressed confidence that Tamil Nadu would show its faith in the BJP in the Lok Sabha polls "Now Tamil Nadu has decided that on April 19, every vote will go to BJP and NDA. Now Tamil Nadu has decided - this time it will cross 400" the Prime Minister said.
